Sexual Health Services
Birth Control Start
The Student Health Center (SHC) offers contraceptive counseling, including information about emergency contraception, birth control pills, and other contraceptive options. Emergency contraception is available free of charge to students through the support of YDS. SHC providers can also prescribe and initiate oral contraceptives (the pill) for eligible students.
For students interested in long-acting reversible contraceptives, such as intrauterine devices (IUDs) or contraceptive implants, referrals can be made to local specialists.
To schedule an appointment, please use the online scheduling system on the Student Portal or call the SHC directly. Before your appointment, please complete the required forms available through the SHC Student Portal.
Routine Gynecological Exam
If you are 21, you may schedule a routine women’s health examination with one of our providers. This involves breast and pelvic exams, Pap smear, and Gonorrhea/Chlamydia screening. This exam is by appointment only. If you are experiencing symptoms, please schedule an appointment online or call the Student Health Center to speak with a nurse. You will be advised over the phone or scheduled appropriately for an appointment.
If you are sexually active, we recommend annual Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI) testing. One set of free STI testing per academic year is available at the SHC.
Any CHARGES associated with your visit will be billed to your student account or Eagle One card:
- Complete women’s health exam (PAP) $25
- Chlamydia and Gonorrhea testing – one set of tests/year at no cost. Additional testing $10. The collection of specimens involves collecting a urine specimen or a self-vaginal swab and other active areas.
- Birth control pills from Our Pharmacy. We carry a limited amount of birth control pills for approximately $8 per pack. (Students wishing to purchase birth control through the Health Center Pharmacy must receive their care and exams through the Student Health Center Clinic).
- Emergency contraception and counseling (Plan B), free as presently funded by YDS.
- Pregnancy testing and counseling, $5 fee
- Free Internal and External condoms can be found in our Self Care room (across from Eagle One), in our Lobby, as well as each exam room.
