Meet Our Team

Dr. Nancy Wang
University Physician/ Student Health Center Director
Dr. Wang received her undergraduate degree from Queens College, City University of New York, and Doctor of Medicine at Upstate Medical Center of New York. She completed her residency in Family Medicine at Middlesex Hospital in Middletown Connecticut, and has provided medical services in the Fredericksburg region since 1999. She is Board Certified in Family Medicine, licensed in Virginia, and has worked in private practice for 24 years. As an active professional, Dr Wang holds membership in the Academy of Family Physicians and the Virginia Academy of Family Physicians. She joined the UMW Student Health Center in April 2018. As a member of the Student Affairs, she works with a nurse practitioner, and nurses to provide health services and advocate wellness for the students of UMW.

Rene Sanders MSN, FNP-BC

Rene has worked in various settings in the Nursing Field, she has spent many years working at Local community hospitals in Virginia and Florida caring for all populations, and she has spent time in the classroom preparing student nurses to become Registered Nurses and License Practical Nurses in the community. Rene obtained her Masters as a Family Nurse Practitioner, graduating from Chamberlain University in 2017. Rene joined the University of Mary Washington Family in September of 2018 and serves as the Associate Director of the Student Health Center.

Anna Casana BSN, RN
Anna received an Associate Degree in Nursing from Harrisburg Area Community College in 2005 and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from Old Dominion University in 2015. She brings a diverse range of nursing knowledge to UMW. She has previously worked in cardiology, oncology, women’s health, and urgent care. Anna joined UMW in 2021. She has a passion for knitting and the Fredericksburg community.

Iris Garcia BS, RN

Kelly Matuczinski, MSN, RN
Kelly received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania and her Master of Science degree in Nursing from Duquesne University. She served 24 years as a Nurse Corps Officer in the United States Navy, both active duty and reserve. Kelly deployed as a critical care nurse to Afghanistan in 2013 and to New York City aboard the USNS Comfort hospital ship in 2020 during the COVID 19 pandemic. She joined the UMW Student Health Center in 2021. Kelly is the proud mom of two UMW Alumni.
