OHSA Training
The University of Mary Washington Safety Office provides OSHA training to all employees that perform duties requiring certifications in the areas of Confined Space Entry, Lock Out Tag Out, Respiratory Protection, Blood Bourne Pathogen, VDOT Flagman Certification, Hazardous Waste Awareness and any other required safety course needed. All employees are required to attend annual training on various safety topics to include Hazardous Communications: “Employee Right to Know”, Emergency Evacuation, Fire Extinguisher Use, and Asbestos Awareness. There are several safety topics that are offered though out the year with subjects such as Ergonomics, Office Safety, and General Shop Safety classes, included are Ladder Safety, Environmental Emergencies, Grounds Worker Safety, Good Housekeeping Practices, Power Tool Safety, Snow Removal, Proper Protective Equipment. Training is also offered to students that seek employment with the college, the Student Painter Program offered to actively enrolled students during summer break, are required to attend safety training on various subjects related to their job requirements and exposures.
