Chapter 11: Priority Levels

Priority levels are determined by the following factors:

  • material condition
  • material location
  • accessibility
  • vibration
  • type of vibration
  • air flow
  • usage of area
LEVEL CATEGORY ACTION RECOMMENDED

0

Imminent Hazard

Area should be evacuated and an appropriate response action initiated immediately. Temporary measures to insure the control of fiber release and protect building occupants should be implemented until a more permanent response is feasible.

1

Significantly Damaged

Evacuate or isolate the area if needed.
Remove (or enclose or encapsulate if
sufficient to contain fibers). Repair of
thermal systems insulation is
allowed if feasible and safe.

2

Damaged with potential

Evacuate or isolate the area if needed.
Remove, enclose, for significant damage
encapsulate or repair to correct
damage. Take steps to reduce potential
for further disturbance.

3

Damaged with potential

Remove, enclose, encapsulate or repair
to correct damage and for damage
prevent further damage.

4

Damaged

Remove, enclose, encapsulate or repair
to correct damage.

5

Potential for significant

Take steps to reduce potential for
disturbance.

6

Potential for damage

Take steps to reduce potential for
disturbance.

7

Non ACM

No action necessary.
