Certain activities on the campuses of UMW require an issuance of a permit from the Office of Emergency Management & Safety. Some tasks require a pre-work inspection of the worksite. Examples of tasks needing OEMS approval are:
Aerial (Crane) Lifts
Confined Space Entry
Hot Work (Soldering, Brazing, Welding, Cutting, Torching, etc…)
Special Effects (Fog, Other Theatricals)
Annual Stage Permit Use (University Center, Anderson Center)
Other Tents, Stages, or Amusements

Please note that not all permit applications will be approved. Per the UMW Safety Plan, all permit requests (unless deemed an emergency by department head) must have at least 24 hours notice given.
