Annual Permit Use and Event Notification
Pursuant to requirements of The Virginia Statewide Fire Code and Virginia Building Codes, a permit is required for Temporary Structures, such as Stages and Tents. Annual permits may be obtained and are in force for the term the permit is issued. Once permits are issued by The Bureau of Capital Outlay Management, The Office of Emergency Management and Safety is responsible for enforcement on the use of these annual permits. Inspections are a required component of the use of temporary structures. While these annual permits exist, policy still requires an inspection of all temporary structures by personnel from this office. In an effort to streamline this process, users will need to complete the short questionnaire found on this page. A notification will be sent to The Emergency Management and Safety Office so that the required inspection can be completed in a timely manner prior to your event. If you anticipate a crowd over 1000 attendees, please also make sure to follow Crowd Management requirements.
