2026-27 Civic Engagement and Leadership Summit

The James Farmer Multicultural Center and the UMW NAACP College Chapter are co-sponsoring the 2026 Civic Engagement and Leadership Summit. The purpose of the Civic Engagement & Leadership Summit is to create a valuable and meaningful opportunity for students to enhance their awareness of societal issues and learn about strategies and resources to effectively address and respond to them. Additionally, this summit will provide attendees with an opportunity to build coalitions across cultural barriers, strengthen advocacy, and support the promotion of civic engagement at UMW and in their respective communities. This year’s theme for the Summit is, “Where are We Headed?” At this event, we will be discussing voting rights, human rights, environmental justice, education, healthcare, and the importance of understanding history.
