Group Therapy
Our groups are open to students enrolled full-time at UMW.
Adulting… What The Heck is That?
Adjusting to college and adulting at the same time? Same. This group is for students figuring out how to juggle independence, academics, stress, and maybe even laundry (no shame). We talk time management, social life, connection, and how to survive being away from home without turning into a pile of stress. It’s a chill, supportive space where you can be real, swap stories, set goals, and learn smart ways to stay on track—without pretending you’ve got it all together. No lectures, just real talk with people who get it. Come for the coping skills, stay for the camaraderie. Leave feeling a little more confident (and a lot less alone) in your college journey.

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) Group
This group focuses on building Mindfulness (the practice of being fully aware and present in this one moment) and Emotion Regulation Skills (how to cope effectively with difficult emotions). DBT skills training enhances the individuals’ coping ability by learning behavioral skills. The DBT group structure will mimic a class in that skills will be taught and assigned for members to practice outside of group in their everyday lives. This group is open to any student who would like to develop or strengthen both mindfulness and emotion regulation skills. For more information about this group, please contact Amira Niori at aniori@umw.edu

Students will receive psycho-education and skill-building throughout the group. This group is open to any student who is currently dealing with the death of a friend or loved one.
