About TimelyCare

UMW students have free, 24/7 access to virtual mental health and well-being services through TimelyCare, a telehealth platform designed for college students.

Services are accessible via a web browser or app, while crisis support is also available 24/7 by calling the Talley Center at 540-654-1053. Students do not need insurance coverage to access TimelyCare services.

Go to timelycare.com/umw or download the TimelyCare app to access care. Download via the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Access CrisisNow by calling the Talley Center at 540-654-1053 and selecting option 1. CrisisNow does not require advance registration or app access.

TimelyCare uses single sign-on, so students should use their UMW NetID with umw.edu at the end (mail.umw.edu will not work). Students will complete an information form on their first visit to the site, which can be done as soon as they join the UMW campus community.

Students have access to TimelyCare services 365 days a year – that means they have access during breaks, after hours, and any time they need support.

Through UMW’s partnership with TimelyCare, students have access to:

  • CrisisNow: 24/7, on-demand crisis intervention for serious mental health concerns. Access CrisisNow by calling the Talley Center at 540-654-1053 and selecting option 1. CrisisNow does not require advance registration or app access.
  • TalkNow: 24/7, on-demand emotional support for non-suicidal personal crises, including anxiety, relationships, depression and school-related stressors. Available through the app.
  • Scheduled Counseling: Choose the day, time, and mental health provider that work best for you. Students have access to 12 scheduled counseling sessions per year.
  • Health Coaching: Develop healthy lifestyle behaviors related to sleep, nutrition, exercise, time management and more.
  • Self-Care Content: Visit TimelyCare’s “Explore” page for guided self-care content, including yoga and meditation sessions, as well as group conversations with providers on a variety of health and well-being topics.
  • Psychiatry: Appointments are available through referrals.

TimelyCare services are intended for currently enrolled UMW students. Faculty and staff may seek support when a student shows academic signs of distress or other concerning behavior.

Faculty and staff are often the first line of support for students who can benefit from care. If you are a UMW faculty or staff member and need additional support for a student, call 833-484-6359 (press 2) any time – day or night.

To keep the conversation going with students, start with: “It sounds like you’re having a really tough time. Did you know UMW provides counseling services both in person and virtually? The Talley Center provides in-person individual and group counseling, and TimelyCare is available 24/7. We could call their number together to get you support.”

Use this service when a student shows academic signs of distress or physical and psychological signs of distress; refers to self-harm; discloses problems with family, peers, a significant other, or a recent personal loss; isolates from peers, faculty, or staff; or is identified by peers as potentially needing support.
