Priority Registration
Beginning with the registration period for fall 2014 classes, priority registration status will be granted to students who are active-duty military, reservists, veterans (as defined by Virginia Code § 23-7.4), and members of the Virginia National Guard.
Eligible students must submit documentation to the Office of Academic and Career Services. The new policy offers flexibility and accommodations so students can complete their education and manage dual responsibilities as students and military members.
Procedures
- Priority registration will be granted the first semester of enrollment
- Student must self-identify to the Office of the Registrar
- Veterans must provide a copy of DD 214, retired military identification card or the DMV issued veteran card
- Virginia National Guard, Reservists, and Active Duty members must present a copy of their current Military ID card
- In order to ensure priority registration, students who are required to self-identify must do so before the following dates:
- Fall – March 1
- Spring – October 1

A veteran using benefits for the first time should fill out the 22-1990 VA Education Benefits application. If changing programs or institutions, or if benefits have been used elsewhere, complete the 22-1995 Change of Program form. These are available at www.gibill.va.gov.
