Transfer of Military Credit
UMW has adopted revised transfer credit policies that apply to the award of academic credit for military education, training, and experience for students who are active-duty military, reservists, veterans, or members of the Virginia National Guard. These policies took effect on July 1, 2014.
The revised policy provides flexibility for students regarding the award of credit for military education and training and will help increase degree completion among this population. Students who have served in the armed forces or who continue to serve while enrolled in a higher education program are particularly reliant on the flexible transfer of credits because many who complete a degree do not do so at the institution where they first enrolled.

NOTE: Virginia Code §23-7.4 1 defines a veteran as an individual who has served at least one day of service in the active military, naval or air service and who was discharged or released therefrom under conditions other than dishonorable.
