COAR

 — Mission Statement –

COAR is a diverse group of students serving community needs through an active exchange of service and learning while continually striving to find solutions to problems that challenge the community.

– Who Can Join COAR? –

Anyone who has a desire to serve the UMW and Greater Fredericksburg community can get involved with COAR. Whether you are an individual, a sports team, or a club… if you want to get involved and start making a difference, COAR is here to help make it happen!

– What Are Our COAR Programs?

Our COAR programs range from groups working with children, the elderly, and the homeless to working with large non-profit organizations such as the SPCA, Big Brothers/Big Sisters and Habitat for Humanity.

– What Are Our COAR Events? –

Throughout the school year, COAR organizes several events on and off campus to create an opportunity for students to help better the community. Some of these events include Into the Streets, Pumpkin Palooza (an on-campus trick-or-treat for area kids), a Gift Box Drive for Head Start, a Variety show and silent auction to raise money for Alternative Breaks, Spring Forward Festival (an Easter egg hunt and crafts for area children), and Pay it Forward Week. Each event is fun and unique for students and the general public. All events require help from our COAR Events Crew, the UMW campus community, and the general public to make each successful!
