Statement on Greek Life
As a small residential campus with approximately 4000 undergraduates, the University of Mary Washington (UMW) offers over 150 student organizations in various categories, including academic, multicultural, faith-based, preforming arts, and political. Hundreds of students participate in sports clubs and intramural athletics, while over 500 undergraduates are members of our Division III varsity athletic program.
Regarding Greek Life, UMW is not affiliated with single-sex Greek social fraternities or sororities. The University does recognize and is affiliated with several Greek academic honorary societies, including Phi Beta Kappa, and at least one Greek coeducational service fraternity, Alpha Mu Sigma.
