Asian Cultural Celebration 2025<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

“Expanding Horizons: The Asia of Tomorrow”<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

A new generation of the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community has arrived. We aim to bridge the past and present to showcase how the rich histories of the AAPI community has shaped our modern communities. This week\u2019s events reflect our theme of connecting with our heritage and the evolving identity of modern generations. Let us come together to celebrate diversity, cultural traditions, and inspire future generations. Join the Asian Student Association and the James Farmer Multicultural Center in celebrating the vibrant cultures and traditions of the AAPI community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Arts and Crafts<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Monday, October 27 | 5 pm – 6 pm | 2nd floor Gourley Living Room, Cedric Rucker University Center<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Stop by the 2nd floor of the CRUC for a chance to try your hand at a couple of crafts originating from Asian culture. Join the Asian Student Association for a laid-back time of making AAPI arts and crafts. There will be music, snacks, and lots of fun throughout the afternoon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

UMW K-Pop Dance Festival <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Tuesday, October 28 | 7 pm – 8:30pm (photocard event at 6 pm) | Digital Auditorium, Hurley Convergence Center<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Sponsored by the Leidecker Center for Asian Studies<\/em><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Get ready for an unforgettable night at the UMW K-pop Dance Festival! Enjoy electrifying performances by KDC Mythic, Archive Studios, and a talented team of UMW student dancers, followed by an interactive K-pop dance activity for everyone! Arrive early at 6 pm for a special photocard-making event hosted by the Asian Student Association. Admission is free.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Asian Cultural Dinner<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Wednesday, October 29 | 5:00 p.m. | Restaurants at the Top of the CRUC, Cedric Rucker University Center<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Cost with Campus Meal Plan is one meal swipe or $15.27 Flex. The cost for EagleOne or credit card purchase is $17.64, plus tax, and $5.25 plus tax for children ages 4 – 10.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

University Dining and the Asian Student Association (ASA) are proud to present a celebratory dinner whose dishes span across the Asian continent. The menu will feature foods originating from China, Korea, Japan, India, Thailand, and more. Ghibli Social\/Movie Night<\/strong>: Parasite <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Thursday, October 30 | 7 pm | Ball Circle<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Once the sun sets, come embark on a cinematic journey with the Asian Student Association. Our movie night will feature Bong Joon-Ho\u2019s Parasite (2019). Follow a low-income family whose lives have always been handed the short end of the stick. Now that they have an opportunity to live among the wealthy, they\u2019ll do anything they can to stay there. Not only has Parasite won several awards in Korea, but Joon-Ho\u2019s film also won 2020’s Academy Award for Best Picture. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Scary Movie Night: Train to Busan<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Thursday, October 30 | 7 pm | Farmer Hall, Room 204<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Join the Asian Student Association for a thrilling evening watching Train to Busan. Whether you’re a horror fan or just discovering this famous Korean zombie film, this will be a fun night to explore Asian pop culture and connect with friends. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Taste of Asia<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Saturday, November 1 | 4:00 p.m. | Chandler Ballroom, Cedric Rucker University Center<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Cost information: $3 for UMW students, faculty and staff; $5 for the general public; or three canned food items.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Taste of Asia is an annual celebration of Asian culture. This popular event provides both entertainment and education, as Asian culture and lifestyle are presented through a fashion show, dance performances, and an array of ethnic foods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
