What is InterVarsity?

InterVarsity Christian Fellowship/USA is an evangelical and interdenominational campus ministry. The purpose of InterVarsity Christian Fellowship/USA is
to establish and advance at colleges and universities
witnessing communities of students and faculty
who follow Jesus as Savior and Lord:
growing in love for God,
God's word,
God's people of every ethnicity and culture
and God's purposes in the world.

What does the name mean?

InterVarsity actually comes from England where the term "varsity" referred to one's school. InterVarsity literally means "Inter-School" Christian Fellowship.
So no, it's not really sports-related at all.

Okay that's great, but that's national. What about you guys? What is the IV at Mary Washington all about?

Good question. I'm glad you asked. The vision of the IV at MWC is to model Christlike relationships on every corner of our campus.
The IV at MWC is entirely student run and is led by an C-Team ("Coordinating Team") that is selected from the chapter. Applications go out in the Spring -- see the get involved section for details. The new leadership team is selected by the current C-Team, with an eye on where God is taking the campus and the gifts of the members of the chapter.
