We want YOU to be an Orientation Leader!
The Office of Student Activities and Engagement (SAE) is selecting twenty-eight Orientation Leaders (OLs) and eight Orientation Set-Up Crew (O-Crew) to represent the University of Mary Washington for New Student Orientation: It’s a Great Day to be an Eagle and Welcome Week: Taking Flight. This selective, paid position will serve UMW by helping welcome incoming students and family members to campus. OLs serve as mentors through the summer and into the fall semester by serving as a resource and helping students adjust to college life.
Requirements
- Must live on-campus during summer training and Orientation sessions (Sunday evening through Friday evening)
- Must attend all spring training sessions (Every training is MANDATORY):
Wednesday January 16, 4-6pm
Wednesday January 23, 4-6pm
Wednesday January 30, 4-6pm
Wednesday February 6, 4-6pm
Wednesday February 13, 4-6pm
Wednesday February 20, 4-6pm
Wednesday February 27, 4-6pm
Wednesday March 13, 4-6pm
Wednesday March 20, 4-6pm
Wednesday March 27, 4-6pm
Wednesday April 3, 4-6pm
Wednesday April 10, 4-6pm
Wednesday April 17, 4-6pm
Wednesday April 24, 4-6pm
- Must work all Orientation sessions (Every Orientation session is MANDATORY):
June 12-29th
August 20-25th
- Must abide by state and university policies
- Must sign and abide by the rules of a behavior contract
- Must be in good academic and judicial standing at the time of application through the end of the position commitment
- Must be enrolled at UMW for the 2013 fall semester
- Cannot have outside employment during summer training and Orientation sessions
- Cannot be enrolled in summer courses
Expectations
- Be a role model for incoming students during the summer Orientation program and fall Welcome Week program
- Represent the University of Mary Washington and SAE as it relates to the Community Values
- Be professional, dependable, responsible, energetic, and punctual

- Orientation Leaders receive a stipend of $1,000 (before taxes) after the completion of duties
