Dear Returning and New Residential Students:

On behalf of the Office of Residence Life and UMW Dining Services, we look forward to serving you in 2011-2012.

We encourage you to read all the information contained in this agreement, and to call or visit our offices for additional information regarding housing options. Please contact Dining Services for more information regarding your dining options or visit their website.

This is the University of Mary Washington’s “Housing and Dining Services Agreement.” It becomes your official agreement when you submit your application. Please read all instructions carefully!

If you were a first year student in the 2010-2011 academic year, you do not need to submit an additional agreement for the upcoming year.  The agreement you submitted is for two academic years and you are required to live on campus your second year at UMW.  You will need to participate in the spring housing selection process in order to secure a specific assignment.

If you are an incoming first year student in 2011, please be aware that you are submitting an agreement for two academic years. Housing and dining rates will be established each year in April/May by the Board of Visitors and are subject to change in between agreement years.

If you are submitting this agreement online: Please print a copy of this page for your records.

If you are submitting a paper copy of the agreement: Please retain this information for your records. You must complete and submit the two page agreement available at the Office of Residence Life.

Returning students will receive written confirmation of housing assignments during the spring housing selection process held in March/April and will also be able to access their assignment and roommate information on EagleNet.

Incoming freshmen and transfer students will receive their room assignments and roommate information via EagleNet. Students entering in the fall 2011 semester will get their assignments on July 5, 2011. Students entering in the spring 2012 semester will get their assignments in late December.

If you are a returning student who did not participate in the housing selection process but still need housing, you must contact the Office of Residence Life for more information.

The non-refundable housing deposit is kept on your student account and is rolled from year to year so long as you are living in UMW residence halls. The deposit is refunded once you have graduated or your are no longer a residential student. The deposit will be forfeit for anyone who enters into the agreement and later cancels or is released for any reason.

Please do not hesitate to contact our office should you have any questions!

Sincerely,

Christine Porter
Director of Residence Life
