The Student Health Center (SHC) does not accept health insurance, nor is any needed for qualified students to be seen in the Health Center. However, we strongly encourage all students to have health insurance for unforeseen health problems, hospital and emergency room visits, prescriptions, lab and x-ray studies and other services not provided by the SHC. Most local physicians, x-ray centers, and laboratories accept major health insurances. You should check with your insurance for covered providers.
If the SHC does not take health insurance why do you want our health insurance information?
Though the SHC does not bill health insurance for any services, we may refer you to a laboratory, x-ray facility, emergency room or specialist who will need to know your health insurance.
The University of Mary Washington collaborates with Academic Health Plans to offer low cost student health insurance.
