What can I do to make move-in easier?

  • Talk with your roommate(s) to decide what items you will share (television, stereo, refrigerator, phone, etc.).
  • Make sure all of your belongings are packed and labeled with your name and room number.
  • Bring a hand truck or cart to help move larger items.
  • Remember that due to built-in furniture, lofts are not permitted in Russell Hall.  They are also not permitted in the Apartments at UMW. New loftable furniture has been provided in Marshall, Bushnell, Virginia, Custis Halls along with some rooms in Jefferson Hall; as such, additional lofts are not permitted in those buildings.
  • Dress appropriately for the weather..
  • Bring your sense of humor!
