The University of Mary Washington Eagle Awards highlights students, student organizations, staff, and faculty who have provided leadership and contributed outstanding service through involvement in activities and organizations. The Eagle Awards are an opportunity for the University community to recognize those who have made extraordinary contributions to the campus and greater community. The program includes the senior convocation program recognizing our graduating seniors and Who’s Who recognitions. This year we are especially pleased to continue the Eagle Awards second year of awarding the Grace Mann Launch Award, which honors Grace Mann’s legacy and includes a major cash award. Cash awards for the winners of the Prince Woodard Outstanding Leader andPrince Woodard Outstanding New Leader awards will also be included for the second year.
Any member of the student body, faculty and staff can nominate deserving students or organizations. Only students can nominate a faculty or staff member for the Giving Tree Award. Individuals may not nominate themselves; however, they can nominate an organization they are in. Review the list of awards (provided above) to determine which one you wish to nominate an individual, organization or program for and then select and complete the appropriate nomination form in OrgSync. Follow the directions on the form for required information and submission procedures.
NOTE: The Alumni and BLS awards are selected via a separate process.
For the Grace Mann Launch Award, finalists will be contacted for an interview. Not every candidate will be selected for an interview. Like all the other awards, the recipient will be announced at the ceremony.
Individuals and organizations may be nominated in multiple categories although they will only be recognized in one. Students may be nominated for individual awards and as part of an organization and may be recognized in both. However, we love to spread the wealth! The point of this ceremony is not for two individuals or clubs to receive multiple awards. Award winners as well as all nominees in each category will be recognized at the Eagle Awards ceremony.
If you have direct questions regarding the nomination process, contact the Director of Leadership, Golda Eldridge at firstname.lastname@example.org or 540-654-1665.
