Understanding Self and Others:
Monday 2:30- 4:00
Tuesday 9:00- 10:30
Our Understanding Self and Others groups are intended for full-time UMW students who wish to have a space to talk about any issues that are on their minds. Often these concerns are related to personal or family stress that has been placed upon the student. Understanding Self and Others groups allow people to grow, learn about their interpersonal style, and try new skills in a safe space before taking them into our everyday world.
Thursdays 2:00- 3:30
This is a group for members of the UMW sexual minority community, including those who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, pansexual, or who are questioning their sexual orientation. This group is designed to allow individuals to learn more about themselves and their interactions with others. In group, members will have the opportunity to share common struggles, gain support, and give and receive feedback in a safe environment. Issues covered in this group can span a range of topics.

Social Anxiety and Shyness Group
Fridays, 2:00- 3:30
Do you find yourself avoiding most social situations because of social anxiety? Come join our therapy group at CAPS to learn new ways of coping with and managing your social anxiety. This group will include both educational and experiential components, and will focus on reducing anxiety through proven methods of cognitive-behavioral techniques and mindfulness.

CAPS is also committed to offering theme-specific groups based on identified student needs. We value our students’ opinions and encourage you to let us know what kind of groups you would like offered through or in collaboration with CAPS.
