About Kelly: As Kelly’s undergraduate work was in exercise and health promotion, she tried to get as much job related experience as possible. While acquiring that experience, she quickly found that campus recreation was the most enjoyable and rewarding environment and decided to pursue a career in the field. Kelly is a Certified Exercise Physiologist; her undergraduate and graduate school at Virginia Tech both sparked her interest in this area of work and prepared her to take the exam. In Kelly’s words “achieving fitness & wellness is a lifelong work in progress. It is my goal to live as long and healthy a life as possible which means moving my body more than sitting still, eating as well as I am able to, ensuring I sleep enough and managing life’s stressors as they arise.” Activities she enjoys are talking and playing with her children and trying out the local restaurants, coffee shops and music. Kelly’s favorite dessert would feature any combination of chocolate and peanut butter or chocolate and coffee. An interesting fact about her is that she’s been skydiving twice, in two beautiful places, Airlie Beach, Australia and Kauai, Hawaii.

Brittanie Haas, Assistant Director for Fitness & Wellness

About Brittanie: Brittanie has a Masters in Public Health (’16) and a B.A. in Communication (’14) from Virginia Tech. Previously, Brittanie was a Graduate Assistant, group fitness instructor, and small group training coach for Virginia Tech Recreational Sports. Brittanie has shown a dedication to fitness and wellness through her positions at Virginia Tech, as well as her many certifications including: Certified Health Education Specialist, CPR/First Aid/AED, Zumba, and Les Mills GRIT. Her passion is group fitness and she strives to provide multiple avenues for students of all backgrounds to improve their overall wellness while at UMW. A fun fact about Brittanie is that she is a HUGE One Direction fan and won a radio contest to meet them in Summer 2015.

Erin Hill, Graduate Assistant for Fitness & Wellness

About Erin: Erin is a UMW graduate (’16) with a Bachelors degree in Business Administration. She is currently working towards her Masters in Business Administration. In a exciting turn of events Erin became an intern for Campus Recreation her senior year and began leading both Power Pilates and Cycle 30 group fitness classes. She loves any beach related activity. When she is not working or in class, she is often outside, studying, or finding a local concert to enjoy. Erin’s favorite dessert is her grandmother’s peach cobbler. A fun fact about Erin is that she can quote most “Friends” episodes.

Danny Turner, Graduate Assistant for Intramural & Club Sports

About Danny: Danny became involved in Campus Recreation as an Intramural Official his freshman year at Virginia Tech and loved being in the atmosphere so much that he continued to work in Campus Recreation throughout undergrad. Danny is now working towards his Masters in Education and is expected to graduate in May 2017. To Danny, fitness and wellness means finding ways to enjoy yourself while also staying active so that it becomes something you want to do rather than something you have to do. Danny likes to keep himself fit by staying active and not spending too much time indoors or sitting down. Three activities that he enjoys are playing sports, spending time with friends and family, and blindly cheering for Washington sports teams. His favorite dessert is cheesecake because “good cheesecake has a lot of versatility in terms of flavors and toppings. It’s like every dessert combined into one dessert.” He is a jack of all trades, but a master of none. Although Danny tends to stay away from movies, he enjoys Will Ferrell’s sense of humor and really enjoys “The Other Guys”.

Jenna Eggborn, Fitness Center Student Administrator

About Jenna: Jenna is a senior at UMW majoring in Biology. She started working at the Fitness Center her sophomore year. She enjoys being on her farm, exercising, and spending time with her family. She is a member of the Pre-Vet club and Women’s Club Soccer. Some of her favorite outdoor activities include: hiking, playing sand soccer with her friends, and planting flowers. Her favorite dessert is Moose Tracks Ice Cream. An interesting fact about Jenna is that she has been to the Galapagos Islands and plans to attend Vet school after graduating from UMW.

Kevin Sullivan, Outdoor Recreation Student Administrator

About Kevin: Kevin got involved with Campus Recreation as a freshman by taking advantage of the great activities CREC has available. He participated in intramural games and played pick-up basketball with the club basketball team; Kevin was hired his Sophomore year. To Kevin, “Fitness and Wellness is being the best version of yourself that you can be. When you are in great shape you feel better and your confidence skyrockets.” In his free time, Kevin loves playing organized sports; his favorite is basketball, but he also enjoys kayaking and hiking. Kevin really likes Snickerdoodles and the movie “Jeff Who Lives at Home” because it’s got such a positive message and is very uplifting. When asked to give a unique fact about himself, Kevin said “In my lifetime I have met Allan Iverson twice. Both times he has refused to give me his autograph.”

Maddie Morris, Group Fitness Student Administrator

About Maddie: Maddie is a sophomore at UMW, majoring in Business Administration and minoring in Mathematics. She enjoys doing yoga, cooking, and making smoothies. She is a member of the Swing Dance club, Talk to the Hands, InterVarsity, and she’s on the Business Dean’s Student Advisory Board. Some of her favorite outdoor activities include: walking her dog, hiking, and kayaking. Her favorite dessert is Ice Cream (any kind!) An interesting fact about Maddie is that she was born in Texas.
